Mode of action Insecticide selective against Homoptera, causing them to stop feeding.
Usage Control of aphids and whitefly in vegetables, potatoes, ornamentals, cotton, deciduous and citrus fruit, tobacco, hops; both juvenile and adult stages are susceptible. Also control of planthoppers in rice. Application rates vary from 150 g/ha on potatoes
to 200-300 g/ha on ornamentals, tobacco and cotton; 10-30 g/hl on vegetables, fruit and hops.
         As soon as an aphid or planthopper comes into contact with pymetrozine, it will almost immediately produce a stylet blocking effect, stop feeding immediately, and eventually starve to death, and this process is irreversible. Therefore, pymetrozine has excellent function of blocking insect virus transmission. Although the mechanism of stylet obstruction caused by pymetrozine is not yet clear, existing studies have shown that this irreversible "stopping of food" is not caused by "antifeeding". The initial mortality rate of insects treated with pymetrozine is very low. The insect "hungry moths" can still survive for several days before dying, and the mortality rate is related to climatic conditions. Tests have shown that within 3 hours of pesticide treatment, the feeding activity of aphids is reduced by about 90%, and 48 hours after treatment, the mortality rate can be close to 100%.
