Classification Insecticide
Biochemistry Acts as an antagonist by binding to postsynaptic nicotinic receptors in the insect central nervous system.
Mode of action Systemic insecticide with translaminar activity and with contact and stomach action. Readily taken up by the plant and further
distributed acropetally, with good root-systemic action.
Usage Control of sucking insects, including rice-, leaf- and planthoppers, aphids, thrips and whitefly. Also effective against soil
insects, termites and some species of biting insects, such as rice water weevil and Colorado beetle. Has no effect on nematodes
and spider mites. Used as a seed dressing, as soil treatment and as foliar treatment in different crops, e.g. rice, cotton,
cereals, maize, sugar beet, potatoes, vegetables, citrus fruit, pome fruit and stone fruit. Applied at 25-100 g/ha for foliar
application, and 50-175 g/100 kg seed for most seed treatments, and 350-700 g/100 kg cotton seed. Also used to controls fleas in
dogs and cats.

Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide that acts as an insect neurotoxin and belongs to a class of chemicals called the neonicotinoidswhich act on the central nervous system of insects. The chemical works by interfering with the transmission of stimuli in the insect nervous system. Specifically, it causes a blockage of the nicotinergic neuronal pathway. By blocking nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, imidacloprid prevents acetylcholine from transmitting impulses between nerves, resulting in the insect's paralysis and eventual death. It is effective on contact and via stomach action. Because imidacloprid binds much more strongly to insect neuron receptors than to mammal neuron receptors, this insecticide is more toxic to insects than to mammals. It is mainly used for controlling acanthopanax oral insect pests, such as aphids, leaf cicadas, planthopper, thistle, etc., and can also be used for coleoptera, diptera and lepidoptera pests.It is very effective in controlling resistant insect pests because it does not act on acetylcholinesterase, sodium channel or aminobutyrate - chloride channel.Used for cereal crops, corn, potatoes, cotton, vegetables, citrus, etc.Recently, it has been developed as a new agent for killing white mosquitoes.Widely used in cotton, vegetables, fruit trees, rice, wheat and other crops, effective control of aphids, planthopper, leaf cicada, elephant a and other pests.
